Being transparent and providing accessible information to individuals about how we use personal information is a key element of the Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679).

Why we are processing your information?

All Building Regulation applications are processed in accordance with the Building Act 1984 and the Building Regulations 2010.

What information will we hold?

The name and address of the applicant and any agent will be available to certain relevant internal Council Departments.   Any signatures, personal email addresses and personal contact numbers will not be viewable online but will be recorded on our building control database and will be available to all building control staff. 
All information, including signatures, personal email addresses and personal contact numbers may be held electronically for a minimum of 15 years.  Personal details can be removed on request.

What will we use the information for?

Your information will be used for building regulation related reasons including but not limited to:-
1. Receipt, validation, processing, determination and issuing of the building regulation decision and completion
2. Building Regulation history searches
3. Local Land Charges searches

Information Sharing

Your application information (excluding personal data) will be placed online and is available to view.

Accuracy of your information

We will process the information provided at the time of your application. If your information is not accurate then you should contact us on mail@devonbuildingcontrol.gov.uk.

Retention

All Building Control applications are held on a register for a minimum of 15 years.  In some instances, building data along with personal data pertaining to that building may be archived.

Transferring Data outside of the EU

Your information will not be transferred outside the EU, however property information is accessible to the general public online.
